Day 7 (cont.) - The Berlin Wall and Checkpoint Charlie

Two sections of the Berlin Wall remain standing. This section serves as a memorial and a reminder.













Checkpoint Charlie.






Actors portray Soviet and American troops. Of course, it costs some Euros to have your picture taken with them.

The German government invited a number of artists to paint sections of the second section of the Berlin Wall still standing, after it was torn down. After twenty years, the paintings had faded so the government brought the artists back to restore their works.


















I remember this one from 1995.
