Day 10 (cont.) - Peterhof, St. Petersburg

Our first big stop was Peterhof, built by Peter the Great. This is the first of many breath-taking buildings in St. Petersburg. Peterhof is probably the most elaborate and extensive display of fountains in the world.

Fuzzy in front of the sprawling estate.

These beautiful fountains are all in the front yard. This is only what the neighbors saw driving by (or whatever they did in the late 1700s)

The backyard, so to speak. The fountains are about to start.

The music starts and water begins to flow.

Soon they're all going and Esther Williams showed up and...okay, maybe not, but it was a gorgeous display.

Rex rubs the statue's foot for good luck.

Fuzzy does his Greek statue pose. It's art!

St. Petersburg vis-a-vis Peterhof

A statue of Peter the Great. Legend has it if you can toss a coin into the back of his boot, you get good luck. Fuzzy put one in, Rex put in two. Watch those Jets this fall!

Ah, that Pete. He's such a prankster. One of his practical jokes is to have this bench sprayed with water occasionally, to surprise whoever may be sitting there.

Another of Pete's practical jokes.

Even the squirrels are red in Russia.

The cathedral of the city of Peterhof.

Spot has found him a cool place on the shady porch of the cathedral.
