Day 15 - Entering the Kiel Canal

We entered the Kiel Canal about 5am. Normally, we wouldn't be up at that hour but the captain shifted gears on the Prinsendam and it woke us up. Not that we were complaining, because it was interesting going through the first lock of the canal.

The sleepy village at the lock.

Dock workers help maneuver us into place.

The gate behind us gets ready to close.

Almost closed.

All closed up.

Now the gate in front of us opens.

The gate is open so we can enter the Kiel Canal.

As soon as they take away the gangway.

Other ships were leaving the canal to enter the Baltic Sea.
