Day 12 (cont.) - Helsinki, with friends

We spent the rest of the day walking and riding around the city with my Facebook friend, Marie and her adorable son Tuomas.

Another Lutheran church, but this one is built INTO the hill. It is carved out of a huge boulder.

Tuomas and I had ice cream cones before we went in.

The ceiling is one long continuous thread of copper wire in a coil.

The ubiquitious and beautiful pipe organ.

Skylights let natural light in.

The balcony.

It's hot inside.

The view from the balcony.

Mom and Dad in the balcony, in front of the pipe organ.

We walked took the trolley around the downtown area looking for hockey jerseys.

These street musicians were playing for tips, but they were awesome!

Tuomas couldn't speak a word of English but his expressions spoke volumes.

The beautiful Marie.

Helsinki has a beautiful park near downtown. On a hot day like this one, it's a very popular spot for the denizens.
