Surveyor 5, launched September 8, 1967, was the fifth lunar lander of NASA's Surveyor program sending probes to the moon. It landed successfully on September 11. It had an alpha particle backscatter device to analyze the lunar surface. It sent back over 19,000 images.
Contact was lost on December 17.
