"The Dukes of Hazzard" debuts 1979

Looking back at this, one might think The Dukes of Hazzard was probably politically incorrect in some ways, but it was a fun show, especially for a high school student without much to do on week nights.

Bo (John Schneider [swoon!]) and Luke (Tom Wopat) Duke jumped onto the small screen January 26, 1979, in the now iconic General Lee, a1969 Dodge Charger with the "Stars and Bars" emblem on the roof and the "Dixie" song as the horn.

The Dukes of Hazzard lasted for seven seasons, including the one that didn't include Bo and Luke since the actors had walked off.

John Schneider won a TV Land Award in 2005 for the Most Uninsurable Driver.
