Venera 5, launched January 5, 1969, was a Soviet probe to Venus to study its atmosphere. It was similar to the Venera 4, which transmited information about the Venusian atmosphere but did not survive the impact.
Venera 5 reached Venus on May 16 and entered the atmosphere on the night side of the planet. It sent data every 45 seconds for 53 minutes before it succumbed to temperature of 608 °F and 26.1 bars of pressure.
