Surveyor 7, launched January 7, 1968 (just 50 years ago today!), was the seventh lunar lander and fifth to achieve a soft landing on the moon of the Surveyor program.
It landed on January 10 and transmitted data through January 26. Operations resumed on the next lunar day, February 12-26, when communications with the spacecraft were lost.
NASA planned to visit Surveyor 7 during the Apollo 20 mission but budget cuts prevented that from happening.
