Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month: Jimmy Smits, multi-award winning Hispanic actor

Handsome Jimmy Smits, born July 9, 1955 in Brooklyn, New York to a Puerto Rican mother and a Surinamese father of Dutch ancestry, has won multiple awards during his acting career.  He made his television debut in an episode of Miami Vice, and his movie debut in Running Scared.  He is best known for his performances on NYPD Blue, LA Law and The West Wing.  My favorite role of his is, of course, Senator Bail Organa in the Star Wars prequel trilogy and Rogue One.

He won a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series for NYPD Blue, and  Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for LA Law.  He also won a Saturn Award for Best Guest Performance in a Television Series for Dexter.
