"Amadeus" released 1984
Amadeus, the musical based on the life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, was released in the US September 19, 1984. The biopic starred F. Murray Abraham as Antonio Salieri and Tom Hulce in the title role, both being nominated for Oscars for Best Actor, one of the few movies to receive two nominations for Best Actor. Abraham took the award.
Amadeus won seven more Oscars: Best Picture; Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium; Best Art Direction-Set Direction; Best Costume Design; Best Sound and Best Makeup.
It won four Golden Globes: Best Director; Best Performance by an Actor; Best Screenplay, Best Motion Picture - Drama
