The series finale of Star Trek: Voyager Endgame won two Primetime Emmys at the 53rd annual ceremony held November 4, 2001. It took home the trophies for Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Dramatic Underscore), and Outstanding Special Visual Effects for a Series. The episode Workforce was nominated for the same two awards. Star Trek: Voyager was also nominated Outstanding Costumes for a Series, Outstanding Hairstyling for a Series, Outstanding Makeup for a Series, and Outstanding Sound Editing for a Series.
The X-Files won the award for Outstanding Makeup for a Series for Deadalive, tying with The Sopranos. The series was nominated for Outstanding Cinematography for a Single Camera Series.
The mini-series Dune won Outstanding Special Visual Effects for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special for Part I, and Outstanding Cinematography for a Miniseries or Movie for Part II. Part III was nominated for Outstanding Sound Editing for a Miniseries, Movie or Special.

My girl Cyndi Lauper won for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her work in Mad About You. Babylon 5 won Outstanding Individual Achievement in Makeup for a Series for Acts of Sacrifice. Angela Lansbury was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her work in Murder, She Wrote. The X-Files received 7 nominations, four of which were for the episode Duane Barry. Mystery Science Theater 3000 was nominated for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Writing for a Variety or Music Program. CCH Pounder was nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her performance in The X-Files.

Actor and comedian Leslie Jordan, born April 29, 1955 in Memphis, Tennessee, passed away today after a medical emergency caused him to lose control of his vehicle and crash into a building. He was declared dead on the scene.
Leslie won the hearts of everyone who watched him. He has over 135 action credits according to imdb.com. The first role I remember him in fondly is his performance in Sordid Lives, and his depiction of Tammy Wynette. I was pleasantly surprised and happy to see him in a season of American Horror Story. During my research, I realized he was also in Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday. These do not seem to be his strongest talents, but I'm glad to see he stepped outside of the box.
I was again surprised and delighted to see he starred in an episode of Star Trek: Voyager: False Profits in 1996. I remember watching the episode and not realizing he was playing one of the Ferengi! Must watch again!

Star Trek: Voyager episode Dark Frontier won a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Visual Special Effects, at the 51st ceremony, September 12, 1999. Episodes Thirty Days and Timeless were also nominated, so Voyager was pretty well on track to win the award.
I suppose since it was nominated for Visual Effects, it was disqualified for any acting awards? Or are sci-fi series overlooked on purpose?

Another favorite episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation of mine, Starship Mine, aired March 27, 1993. Many fans thought it should have been named Die Hard, Picard. I thought it should have been titled Indiana Picard and the Enteprise of Doom.
The Enterprise is docked at space station for a routine sweep to remove accumulated baryon particles, which can be dangerous. The process for removing baryon particles requires anything with living tissue must be removed.
Picard soon realizes that terrorists are aboard and confronts them with the lethal baryon sweep is approaching.
Tim Russ, who played Tuvok on Star Trek: Voyager, and Patricia Tallman, who played Lyta Alexander on Babylon 5, both appeared in guest roles.

Kidney problems at birth stunted his growth and he only reached 5 feet, but he played his part to the hilt. He had a guest spot on Star Trek: Voyager and was nominated for his recurring guest role on Deep Space Nine.
Star Trek: Voyager, the fourth live-action Star Trek series, premiered January 16, 1995. In the first episode, Caretaker, the star ship Voyager is thrown 70,000 light-years away into the Delta Quadrant along with a Maqui ship full of rebels, some of whom were in Star Fleet. They have to join an uneasy alliance to make it back home.
It is the first series to have a female captain, Capt. Kathryn Janeway played by Kate Mulgrew. Robert Beltran played Starfleet-turned-outlaw-turned-Starfleet Commander Chakotay. I thought he was the coolest second-in-command of all the series and the most under-appreciated. Voyager also introduced the first character that I really did not like: Neelix. He was the most annoying of ALL Star Trek characters.
The rest were pretty awesome people. Garret Wang (Ensign Kim), Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine), Roxann Dawson (B'Elanna Torres), Robert Duncan McNeill (Lt. Paris), Robert Picardo (the Doctor) and Tim Russ (Lt. Tuvok).
I stopped watching the show after the third season when it became The Janeway/Seven of Nine Show, but I did watch the last season.
Robert Duncan McNeill, born November 9, 1964 in Raleigh, North Carolina, is beloved by Trekkies everywhere as Lieutenant Tom Paris on Star Trek: Voyager. He appeared on Star Trek: The Next Generation in the episode The First Duty as Cadet First Class Nicholas Locarno. The producers of Voyager wanted a character like him so they decided just to get him.
He also starred in an episode of Murder, She Wrote with Angela Lansbury.
Mark Allen Shepherd, born January 7, 1961, is the man behind Morn, the omnipresent bar patron in Quark's Bar on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. The name 'Morn' is an anagram of 'Norm' the ever-present patron on Cheers.

Tim Russ, the Vulcan Lt. Tuvok on Star Trek: Voyager, celebrates a birthday today, born in 1956 in Washington, DC. He originally auditioned for the part of Lt. Geordi LaForge in Star Trek: The Next Generation, but the role went to Levar Burton. Oh, well, because Tim got the role of Tuvok.
Even though I didn't watch much of Voyager, I enjoyed Star Trek's return to having a Vulcan as a main character when the episode "Ex Post Facto" aired during the first season.
Breath-taking Jeri Ryan, born February 22, 1968, is most fondly remembered by us Trekkies as Seven of Nine on "Star Trek: Voyager". According to her bio, she was Miss Illinois 1989 and came in 4th at the 1990 Miss America pageant (has anybody seen the winner lately?). I also enjoyed her brief cameos on "Two and a Half Men" since she managed to show off her comedic talents as well.
