"Clue" released 1985

The madcap, slapstick comedy Clue was released in US theaters December 13, 1985.  It was based on the popular board game Clue, which has been around since 1949.  It boasted a stellar cast: Eileen Brennan, Madeline Kahn, Lesley Ann Warren, Tim Curry, Christopher Lloyd, Martin Mull, Michael McKean, Kellye Nakahara, and Jane Wiedlin.  

Nakahara is best known for her recurring role as Nurse Kellye in M*A*S*H.  Jane Weidlin is best known as a guitarist/vocalist for the Go-Go's.  The movie had three different endings and each theatre received a different only one of the three.  

Clue was not a box office success and received mixed reviews, but it has endured and has developed a cult following. A remake is in the works and a writer was hired to rewrite the script in 2022.

Celebrating Asian-American Heritage Month: Rosalind Chao, beautiful and talented Chinese-American actress

Rosalind Chao, born September 23, 1957 in Anaheim, California, is everyone's favorite Chinese-American actress.  She is probably best known for her role as Keiko O'Brien in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, for which she was nominated twice for Online Film & Television Association awards.

She appeared as Soon-Lee, Klinger's wife on M*A*S*H.  She also appeared in The Joy Luck Club, Murder, She Wrote, What Dreams May Come, Hawaii Five-O, and Mulan.

The final episode of "M*A*S*H" airs 1983

The final episode of M*A*S*H aired February 28, 1983.  The series based on the Korean War ran for 11 seasons, 14 Primetime Emmys and 8 Golden Globes.  Alan Alda and Loretta Swit were the only two actors to appear in the first and last episodes.

M*A*S*H episode "Private Charles Lamb" airs 1974

Looks delicious!

Another favorite M*A*S*H episode, Private Charles Lamb (Season 3, Episode 14) aired on December 31, 1974.  A Greek colonel is grateful for the 4077th and their excellent treatment of his men, so he throws a typical Greek celebration for them.  The feast includes lots of ouzo and a lamb for lamb chops. 

Radar (Gary Burghoff) is appalled that the lamb will be slaughtered for the feast, so he manages to secure a release and trip home for "Private Charles Lamb" on Bo-Peep Airline.  To allay any suspicions, Radar manages to create a lamb from Spam for the party. 

Loretta Swit (Margaret Houlihan) does not appear in this episode.

Remembering David Ogden Stiers (1942-2018)

David Ogden Stiers, born October 31, 1942, passed away yesterday from bladder cancer.  We all remember him mainly as the stuffy, arrogant Major Charles Emerson Winchester on M*A*S*H.  He was nominated twice for a Primetime Emmy for the role. 

He went on to play Cogsworth in Disney's Beauty and The Beast in both the 1991 movie and the 1994 Broadway cast, the only actor to be in both.

Of course, for me, I enjoyed him in his role as Timicin in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode Half a Life.

Happy birthday, Major Houlihan!

Talented and beautiful Loretta Swit, born November 4, 1937 in Passaic, New Jersey, is best known for her role as Major Margaret Houlihan in the long running show M*A*S*H.  She was nominated 10 times for a Primetime Emmy and won twice.  She was also nominated for 4 Golden Globes for the same role.

Ms. Swit received a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame in 1989.

She starred in an episode of Murder, She Wrote as a friend of Jessica Fletcher, so as usual, her character was accused of murder.

I really enjoyed her as herself on the Muppet Show.

M*A*S*H premieres 1972

Our favorite war comedy-drama M*A*S*H premiered September 17, 1972.  It ran for 11 years and its final episode is one of the most watched television shows ever.  It won 62 awards, including Golden Globes and Primetime Emmys.
