"Godzilla vs Biollante" released 1989

Godzilla vs Biollante, the seventeenth movie in the G-Man's franchise, was released in Japan December 16, 1989.  In this entry, Godzilla has to battle a mutated rosebush, which has been modified by an infusion of Godzilla's cells. 

In 2014, Godzilla vs Biollante was voted the best Godzilla film by a panel of fans and judges, although it did poorly at the box office.  Megumi Odaka reprises her role as telepath Miki Saegusa. 

Happy birthday, Godzilla/Gamera actor Toshiyuki Nagashima!

Prolific Japanese actor Toshiyuki Nagashima, born October 21, 1956 in Chiba, Japan, has appeared in a number of films, but most importantly, a Gamera movie and THREE Godzilla movies!  In 1989, he starred in Godzilla vs. Biollante.  In 1996, he appeared in Gamera 2: Attack of the Legion.

His next appearances in Godzilla movies were Godzilla vs Megaguirus and Godzilla against Mechagodzilla.

However, in 2000, he appeared in the science fiction movie Pyrokinesis, which I saw once and loved it.  I can't find it anywhere so if you know where I can find a copy, I'd appreciate it.

Happy belated birthday, Godzilla actor Katsuhiko Sasaki!

I just found out yesterday that prolific and handsome Japanese actor Katsuhiko Sasaki celebrated his birthday the day before that, December 24.  He was born Christmas Eve in 1944 in Tokyo, Japan.  One of our cable channels hosted a Godzilla marathon yesterday and I got to see at least part of one, Godzilla vs Megalon.  I also got to see the beginning of the Terror of Mechagodzilla and recognized the same actor. 

Katsuhiko Sasaki has been in four Godzilla films, including the two mentioned above and Godzilla vs Biollante and Godzilla vs King Ghidorah.
