Happy birthday, John Oates!

John Oates, born April 7, 1948 in New York City, is half of one of the most successful duo acts in history, Hall & Oates.  He met Daryl Hall while they were attending Temple University in Philadelphia and formed the iconic duo.  He co-wrote many of their songs and was the main guitarist for the group.  

He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2004, and into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014, as a member of Hall & Oates. 

Oates still records music as a solo artist.  His latest album Reunion was released last year.

Daryl Hall, born October 11, 1946 in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, is half of the super rock duo Daryl Hall & John Oates. He and partner John Oates have recorded eighteen albums, and Hall has released five solo albums.  He has been nominated for three Grammys with Oates, and they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on December 16, 2013.

They have also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Hall & Oates' "Out Of Touch" reaches #1 1984

Out of Touch, the single recorded by Daryl Hall and John Oates from their twelfth studio album Big Bam Boom, reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 December 8, 1984.  The song also reached #1 on the Billboard Dance Club songs.

Hall & Oates release "Private Eyes" 1981

Daryl Hall and John Oates released their tenth studio album Private Eyes, September 1, 1981.  The platinum album generated two #1 singles and went to #5 on the Billboard 200.

The second single I Can't Go For That (No Can Do) spent a week on the top of the R&B charts, which is a rare accomplishment for a couple of white guys.
