"Frogs" released 1972

Frogs, released March 10, 1972, is one of the first eco-terror films and one of the best 'bad' movies ever.  A family has gathered on an island in a swamp somewhere in the south.  Animals, reptiles and insects begin killing off the humans.

 I remember seeing the trailers on television when it was released and thought it looked to be a terrifying movie.  When I saw it a few years ago, I realized it was anything but.

One high point of the movie is seeing Sam Elliott shirtless in a couple of scenes.

Frogs was released as a double feature with Godzilla vs. Hedorah.  

"Rebirth of Mothra II" released 1997

The second in the Mothra trilogy, Rebirth of Mothra II, released December 13, 1997 in Japan, pitted everyone's favorite big bug monster against the evil Dagahra.  Clearly a children's film, three kids try to find an undersea city Lost Treasure of Nilai Kinai to restore Earth's environment which is failing. 

However, the rampant pollution has created Dagahra, who might be too powerful for Mothra.  It's sort of a remake of Godzilla vs the Smog Monster (Hedorah) but much better.  The movie of the G-Man's battle against a monster created from pollution had plot holes you could drive a Mack truck through, editing problems that almost seemed like someone with severe ADD had completed it, and just overall WTF?

Rebirth of Mothra II is silly but fun.  It's great to see Mothra in her own movies and showing off some beefed-up powers!

"Godzilla: Final Wars" released 2004

December 4, 2004, Godzilla: Final Wars was released in Japan.  Due to the poor performances of the previous three movies, Toho announced this would be the last Godzilla movie for at least ten years.  The American version Godzilla was released in 2014.

This film brought back past enemies of the G-man, such as Gigan, Anguirus and Hedorah.  Mothra appears as an ally of Godzilla, the first time since Destroy All Monsters!.

"Godzilla vs Hedorah" released 1971

"Godzilla vs Hedorah" was released in Japan July 24, 1971 but American audiences would get tos ee it the following February.  The eleventh movie in the Godzilla franchise had a strong anti-pollution message but the movie itself seems as if it was made from the same pollution featured in it.  This is my second-least favorite Godzilla movie (Godzilla's Revenge being the worst).  It has inconsistencies and editing problems that remove any entertainment value.

It is the only movie to feature Godzilla flying, using his breath to propel him backwards.  It was supposed to lighten up a mostly dark movie. The inserted animated shorts are a bit bizarre.
