John Williams wins 3 Grammy Awards 1978

John Williams took home three Grammy Awards at the 20th annual celebration held February 23, 1978.  His composition of Star Wars soundtrack won Best Instrumental Composition for Main Title from Star Wars, Best Original Score Written for a Motion Picture or a Television Special, and Best Pop Instrumental Performance.  He had the most wins of that evening.

The Eagles went home with two wins: Record of the Year for Hotel California and Best Arrangement for Voices for New Kid In Town. 

Fleetwood Mac won Album of the Year for Rumours.

Billy Joel's Greatest Hits Vol 1 & Vol 2 certified Double-Diamond 1999

Billy Joel's Greatest Hits album Volume 1 and Volume 2 became the fourth album in history to become certified as Double-Diamond for sales over 20 million copies, April 12, 1999.  It follows Michael Jackson's Thriller, the Eagles - Their Greatest Hits: 1971-1975 and Pink Floyd's The Wall.

The Night Is Still Young and You're Only Human (Second Wind) were previously unreleased but have since been released as singles.

Billy Joel wins Album of the Year, 52nd Street 1980

The 22^nd Grammy Awards was held February 27, 1980 in Los Angeles and my man Billy Joel took home Grammy for Album of the Year and Pop Male Vocalist, 52^nd Street!  It must have been an awesome night. Look at some of the other winners:

Remembering Glenn Frey (1948-2016)

Glenn Frey, one of the founding members of the Eagles, passed away today from complications from rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis and pneumonia.  He wrote and sang some of the band's biggest hits such as “Heartache Tonight,” “Lyin’ Eyes,” “Tequila Sunrise” and “Take It Easy.”

My all-time favorite is "Take It Easy" but "Lyin' Eyes" is also one of the best.
