"TRON: Legacy" released 2010

The long-awaited sequel to Tron, TRON: Legacy, was released December 17, 2010.  I enjoyed Tron and I was not disappointed by its sequel.  Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner reprise their roles as Kevin Flynn and Alan Bradley, respectively.

Although it opened to mixed reviews, it was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Sound Editing.  It won two Saturn Awards:  Best Production Design and Jeff Bridges won for Best Actor.

Daft Punk, the French duo who composed the score, won an Austin Film Critics Association award for Best Original Score.

"Tron" released 1982

It may not have received the best reviews, but true to the Disney spirit, it took us to some place we hadn't been before.  Where The Black Hole took us...well... into a black hole, Tron took us into a computer, using computer graphics, which were ground-breaking at the time.  Nowadays, those special effects seem lame but back then, they were awesome!  Even now, it's great to look back and watch young Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner!

"Babylon 5" premieres 1994

Another of my favorite television shows, Babylon 5, premiered January 26, 1994.  I found it to be an interesting, non-Roddenberry look at space exploration.  Babylon 5 won a Primetime Emmy in 1994 for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Makeup for a Series.

I particularly liked the Psi Corps, even though they were mainly portrayed as the bad guys.  Talia Winters was my favorite character and I was bummed when they got rid of her.  I still haven't seen that episode.  I've used the Psi Corps as inspiration for my own Psionic Corps novels featuring Corey Shaw and others.
