The Go-Go's "Beauty and the Beat" reaches #1 1982

The Go-Go's' album Beauty and the Beat reached #1 on the Billboard 200 March 6, 1982, making them the first all-female band to have an album reach the top spot.  It went double-platinum and, in 2020, Rolling Stone magazine ranked it #400 on its list of 500 Greatest Albums of all Time.

The Go-Go's release "Vacation" 1982

The Go-Go's released their second studio album Vacation August 11, 1982.  They were riding on a wave of success after the release of their first album Beauty and the Beat the year before.

The album reached #8 on the Billboard 200 and the single Vacation reached #8 on the Billboard Pop Singles chart.  The album has been certified gold in the U.S.
