Day 16 (cont.) - Heineken Brewery, Amsterdam

We visited the Heineken brewery. They made the experience a lot of fun with beer tasting, how to drink a beer (there's a lot more to it than you'd think) and even a ride.

Day 16 - Touring Amsterdam, Day 1

The central train station.

We got the Hop on, Hop off canal tour of Amsterdam. Similar to the bus, this one is a boat on the canals.

The city was in a festive mood since the Netherlands were in the finals for the World Cup.

Thousands of bikes.

The Prinsendam gets ready to sail to her next cruise.

The terminal building at the port of Amsterdam.

Many Amsterdam residents live in houseboats on the canals.

The Rijksmuseum, which houses many Rembrandts.

Madame Tussaud's on Dam Square.

Note how the building leans forward at the top. Many of these had hooks on boards protruding from the gables. This is to help haul furniture to the top floors since stairways are usually too narrow to get modern furniture up the stairs.

A strange looking bird.

Day 16 - Arriving in Amsterdam

We entered the port of Amsterdam early in the morning.

One more lock to go through.

The guy in the yellow boat chased down the guy in the sailboat and told him to get his fat ass off the water and back on shore. At least that's what it sounded like from our balcony. They could've been speaking Dutch.

"We all live in a yellow submarine" I always thought the yellow submarine was in Liverpool, but here's proof to the contrary.

Hundreds of bicycles.

This tugboat is named "Poseidon".
